Team Details

Dr Alessandro Campione

Director of Programs
I have been working with Jembi in Cape Town since mid 2010 and have watched the organization grow to meet is expectations and exceed them. I play the role of Mozambique Country Coordinator, ensuring that the obligations and objectives of the team in Mozambique are met and driven forward.

Carl Fourie

Assistant Director of Programs
I joined Jembi as one of the founding members and have watched it grow over the past years. I have grown more and more excited as I’ve seen this vision become something real and exciting, making a difference and struggling, and winning, with the pains of growth and pushing the boundaries! A general day for me consists of working with the admin team around general office issues particularly IT and Communications Focused, spending time with the developers in both an HR and team manager as well as interacting on a technical level on the range of projects we work on, all the while aiding and coordinating some of our in-country projects and working with the local teams. To say this work is exciting is to say that disney world is a common park, new challenges and goal every day and a great bunch of people to work with.

Dr Chris Seebregts

Executive Director
I am a founder-member of Jembi Health Systems and also a Senior Technology Manager in Biomedical Informatics within the e-Health Research and Innovation Platform at the South African Medical Research Council. In addition I also hold an honorary associate professorship in the school of computer sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and as a lecturer on the MPH (Medical Informatics) program at the University of South Africa. I have postgraduate degrees in medical biochemistry, computer science and software engineering and have worked both in the public and private sectors in biomedical and informatics research, information technology management and software development. Playing a part of the leadership of the OpenMRS consortium and Principal Investigator on a number of grants from international donors including the Open Architectures, Standards and Information Systems project for healthcare in developing countries keeps me driven on a day to day basis. My main areas of interest are the design and development of health information systems, open enterprise eHealth architecture specifically focusing on Enterprise Architecture (EA), biomedical informatics, and HIV/AIDS treatment failure.

Daniel Futerman

Senior Software Developer / System Analyst
I have been with Jembi since its inception, and have seen it grow from a great idea into a thriving organization. It has been great to be a part of this development, and to see the team go from strength to strength. My role at Jembi has evolved from a Junior Software Developer into a more Senior Developer position, with opportunities to expand into other roles such as System Analyst, Architect and Designer. The opportunity to work under various roles keeps things interesting, as well as belonging to an organization with conscientious motivations and goals.

Edah Williams

Office Assistant
Edah joined the Jembi Team earl 2011 as an Office Assistant.

Evans Mutale

Finance and Contracts Officer
I am part of the Jembi Team particularly the Finance and Administration function having joined this exciting and dynamic organisation in February 2011. My typical role encompasses working closely with the Finance and Contracts Manager in strengthening and sustaining of Financial, Administration and Operations procedures and internal controls while acting as an interface to other Jembi functions and any external stakeholders.  Working for Jembi has come almost natural by virtue of the organisation being a Not- for-Profit NGO, a sector in which I have almost a decade of experience at country and regional level.  I find working at Jembi rewarding because understanding its business of “Developing eHealth and Health Information Systems” happens to be a challenge for a person like me who leans against “Bean Counting”, I guess it is true that learning never ends at Jembi.

Hannes Venter

Software Developer
Hannes joined the Jembi Team late 2011 as a software developer.

Ivan Pinto

Program Officer Mozambique
I joined Jembi at the beginning of 2011 (January 2011), and the first thing impressive about Jembi (in my opinion) is the impact Jembi has in the HIS (Health Information System) field across Africa, in the Southern African region (South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe) expanding to Central eastern Africa (Rwanda). It is an immense influence for a relative young organization and that’s where you know you are part of something special, regardless of the size of Jembi, our work makes a difference.
My daily tasks consist very much of managing HIS and e-health projects of Jembi’s node in Mozambique (mOASIS), by assisting Dr. Alessandro Campione (Technical Advisor in HIS for Mozambique and Zimbabwe OASIS group). Managing such projects refer to activities ranging from compiling project proposal aimed to Donors, Partners and Beneficiaries to ensuring the project objectives and deliverables are achieved. Additionally, I work as the interface or link between Jembi and the mOASIS team.

Jonnea Smith

Director of Corporate Services
I have been with Jembi since June 2010 as a consultant and a full time employee from the August 2010. What do I do? Well I pretty much do anything and everything that keeps the support operations functioning effectively except IT solutions as I am definitely not an IT person which is a little ironic since Jembi develops Health Systems – The Learning never ends at Jembi and that is one of many reasons why working at Jembi is so rewarding. Most days you will find me at my desk number crunching and trying to create new/innovative systems to ensure as we grow our systems facilitate this growth and does not hinder it. With my background in international NGO I am hard at work to ensure Jembi is a leader in Africa in ALL that we do and endeavor to do in the future.

Kari Schoonbee

Software Developer
Kari joined the Jembi Team early 2012 as a software developer.

Linda Taylor

Project Officer
I joined Jembi nine months ago, and even in the short time I have been here, I have seen it evolve very rapidly into a dynamic and exciting organisation. I spend my days co-ordinating, administering and documenting the work undertaken on the various projects Jembi is currently involved in, and interacting with the many people within Jembi, and our wider network of partner organisations and consultants. A typical day could include arranging project meetings , maintaining project plans, tracking and reporting on project status, assisting the technical team in gathering and documenting requirements, and fielding vast amounts of email.
I really appreciate having the opportunity to be involved in the early stages of such an exciting organisation that is truly innovative in its approach, and that really does make a difference to the world we live in.
It’s also great to be part of a great of such an enthusiastic team, who share a common vision. I hope to continue to be a part of Jembi as it continues to grow and flourish.

Lindie Spies

PA to Directors
I joined Jembi late 2010 as Office Administrator but have since become the PA to the Directors. I have had the opportunity to see Jembi grow and become a more fluid business by the implementation of internal processes. My responsibilities range from making international travel and accommodation arrangements to liaising with staff regarding the creation of internal administrative procedures. A typical day consists of the booking and setting-up conference calls and meetings, the preparation of travel itineraries and processing of travel requests, distribution of agendas and documents and daily maintenance of the of the electronic filing system. That said there is never really a typical day at Jembi as something new and exciting always looms over the horizon.

Pascal Brandt

Senior Software Developer
I’ve been at Jembi for the last 2 years since it’s inception. I’m one of the members of the developer team and am involved in all of the steps of the software development life cycle including requirements gathering, design, programming, testing and implementation. I’m also involved in local capacity development. One of the things I enjoy the most about working at Jembi is getting the opportunity to see how the result of what you do in the office every day affects actual people in clinics and hospitals on the ground.

Roger Solomons

Office Administrator and Communications Officer
I joined the Jembi Cape Town team on the 3rd day of January 2011. “A man desires to be a part of something greater than himself” and that is exactly what Jembi is striving towards and destined for – Greatness. Jembi has developed into a great and exclusive organization. Where the passion , heart beat and greatest motivator has been to assist and contribute positively to a developing world. As the Office administrator, based in Cape Town, I deal with and work through ad-hoc administration, daily communication and liaising with various departments in the office

Rhonwyn Cornell

Program Manager
Rhonwyn joined the Jembi Team February 201w as a Program Manager.

Dr Roberta Pastore

Senior HIS Specialist
Roberta joined the Jembi Team March 2012 as the HIS-eHealth Expert and plays a large role as the Program Manager for Mozambique.

Ryan Crichton

Senior Software Developer
I’m a senior software developer at Jembi and I have been around since Jembi began 2 years ago. It has been great to see the Jembi grow through the years to become a collection of like-minded people trying to do some good in the world. Even though Jembi has grown a lot over the year none of the original passion that drove the founders has been lost and that is great to see! Each day you will find me in front of my laptop either hacking away at code, reading up on new technologies that Jembi has an interest in, dealing with email or collaborating on the design of solutions to current problem we are working on. It has been a great journey so far and I hope there are many more great years ahead!

Quintin Spies

IT Consultant
Quintin joined the Jembi Team mid 2011 as a IT Consultant and manages the internal IT systems and networks within Jembi.

Wayne Naidoo

Senior Software Developer
I joined Jembi just a few months after it was formed and I’ve watched it grow into this amazing organisation that really has a pulse on the challenges and requirements for improving health-care solutions for the developing world. A general day for me consists of working at a design and code level on some of the core Jembi projects, training remote development teams as well as coordinating our efforts in the UKZN lab with the admin team in Cape Town. I get to work with an inspiring group of people that are passionate about contributing towards improving the world we live in.
