The Technical Specialist plays a key role in supporting the technology team. The Technical Specialist works closely with the Jembi Technology team and the product owner to analyze and design solutions for digital health projects and contributes to system development and architecture deliverables.

The Technical Specialist must be an expert in the public healthcare domain as well as having strong technology experience and ability. The Technical Specialist understands the software development processes and integrates within the Jembi methodology and processes.

This role has a very strong focus on hospital information system blueprint for Malawi and therefore requires extensive knowledge and experience in developing large, robust systems in low resource environments. All documentation, specifications, architectural artifacts and code produced must use recognized standards and tools.

Required skills & experience
  • Has a proven track record in the Digital Public Health space for 4 years or more

  • 4 years or more proven work experience in healthcare informatics

  • Qualified Staff in terms of a Senior Business Analyst and Technical Architect

  • Experience with agile software development methodologies

  • Experience working in the public health sector

  • Staff have excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • IT Partner staff able to provide:

      - Strong problem solving skills

      - Strong background in digital health and/or mobile technologies

      - Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel

      - Ability to work in dynamic environments

      - Ability to manage conflicting priorities

Beneficial skills & experience
  • Work Closely with the Jembi development and product team to develop the required solutions related to the integrated hospital information blueprint system and technical components that will feed into the Connectivity box for Malawi

  • Understands the problem domain, elicits requirements and captures business needs

  • Clearly articulates and documents functional specifications for a hospital information system.

  • Documents solution design, solution architecture, data models, context diagrams, sequence diagrams and integration specifications

  • Find solutions for key technical problems for the Connectivity Box Components including server architecture, data syncing and other related issues as they arise

  • Provide overall technical leadership and architectural functions on the overall Malawi project working closely with Jembi’s Solution Engineers, Lead Architects and Product Owner

  • Develop detailed delivery plans to meet deadlines to be agreed upon that align with current development efforts

Other Attributes

  • Ability to mobilize team immediately

  • Availability to travel to Malawi and other countries when necessary
