An Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is "a digital collection of medical information about a person that is stored on a computer. An electronic medical record includes information about a patient’s health history, such as diagnoses, medicines, tests, allergies, immunizations, and treatment plans. Electronic medical records can be seen by all healthcare providers who are taking care of a patient and can be used by them to help make recommendations about the patient’s care" (National Cancer Institute, NCI Dictionary of Cancer Terms: Electronic Medical Record, Accessed September 2019, http://bit.ly/2lTUkw5). Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are designed to share information with other health care providers, such as laboratories and specialists, so that authorised clinicians and staff can create, manage and consult across more than one healthcare organization.

Featured Projects

Jembi in collaboration with Ona, HISP Malawi and GIZ Malawi are supporting the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Malawi to strengthen its health systems initially focusing on reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health by promoting data analysis, interpretation and use through the implementation of an electronic register system, OpenSRP as well as through the introduction of innovative solutions to support standards based interoperability

Jembi is the official PEPFAR partner responsible for the development and implementation of the POC system across health facilities in Mozambique. POC is an electronic medical record for patients in real time that will capture information on HIV patients in care and treatment.

The Ministry of Health in Cameroon has adopted and utilizes electronic health information systems (HIS) to improve both clinical and programmatic data, one of the foundational components for a robust and high quality clinical data ecosystem is the electronic medical record (EMR). As such, the EMR must be continuously reviewed and adapted to meet the real world needs of the users and patients it serves. Jembi provides the technical expertise and development to support the Cameroon Ministry of Health’s EMR vision.

Jembi is leading the process of updating, harmonising and centralising the OpenMRS EPTS platform in coordination with FGH and other PEPFAR clinical partners.

Journey is a premium branded and patient-centred digital immunization solution that places the patient squarely at the centre of the journey. Journey is tailored to operate fully in offline environments. The solution has two WiFi enabled servers coupled with custom power management and data replication capabilities to ensure maximum uptime. The solution provides the patient with an electronic version of the immunisation record on a credit-card sized Journey card that keeps the patients identity completely anonymous. These cards are accessible by all Journey enabled facilities and are kept up to date after each vaccination event for continuity of care in offline environments.
