The Jembi team consisting of Prof. Chris Seebregts (CEO), Dr. Richard Gakuba (Senior Regional HIS Advisor) and Wayne Naidoo (Senior Program Manager) recently attended the IGAD Inter-ministerial meeting hosted at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. As part of the IGAD RAD consortium, Dr. Richard Gakuba presented Jembi’s innovative solution designed to help improve continuity of care for cross border populations leveraging NFC technology underpinned by an Health Information Exchange (HIE) maturity model. The initial use case for the solution has been developed for Immunization which the IGAD RAD team plans to expand to support other priority services including TB and HIV.
This high-profile meeting was attended by Ministers of Health from several IGAD countries including a strong delegation of Directors and Heads of national health programs across the region. The Jembi team led by Dr. Richard Gakuba was able to deliver live demonstrations of the IGAD RAD patient-provider solution (currently in development) to a number Ministers and their supporting teams and this was very well received. The RAD project received a lot of support from the many members that attended the meeting. The council of ministers pledged their commitment through a declaration that was signed by all member-state representatives.
