Jembi Health Systems NPC is looking for a Senior .NET Software Engineer to join our cutting edge agile development team. Jembi will is establishing an office in Lusaka and is building a software development team to work on the Zambian Electronic Health Record which is in use in 900 facilities across the country. The Lusaka team will work closely with the Jembi software team based in Cape Town, South Africa. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years experience working with Microsoft Web Technologies, including ASP.NET and MVC, in production enterprise environments.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Solid understanding of web technologies and protocols
- Experience as a senior software engineer, with the ability to lead a development team
- Excellent coding skills and understanding of software design patterns and architecture, using C# programming language
- Use of Agile development practices
- Expertise in MS SQL Server database development
- Ability to take ownership of the software deliverables and work unsupervised by other senior developers
- Responsibility for risk management of the overall software product
- Mentorship of of other software engineers
Additional Skills and Experience:
- Experience in the public health sector
- Previous work with Electronic Health Record systems
Jembi Health Systems is a not for profit company specializing in Health Information Systems and Digital Health. We do work for Ministries of Health all over Africa (South Africa, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Uganda), and partner with international organisations like MSF, the Rockefeller Foundation, UNICEF, CHAI, MSH, CDC and USAID to provide software solutions to improve health outcomes in low resource settings. Most of our code is open source (check us out at https://github.com/jembi), and we run a tight-knit, awesome agile team consisting of 20 developers, each with particular skills. 5 have master’s degrees in computer science, and have worked at web-scale companies like MySpace and Quantcast. We run our sprints using JIRA.
Other tools: Ansible, Docker, Vagrant, Jenkins, Travis and lots and lots of EC2 and Digital Ocean VMs.
Applicants must have a strong background in computer science and experience working on enterprise software systems. They should be self-motivated, hardworking, and keen to learn and be interested in public healthcare.
The successful candidate will be appointed to a one year contract (renewable) which is available immediately. Jembi offers a highly attractive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
