Jembi is regarded as one of the leading specialist health information systems organisations in Africa and has core competencies in the following areas of health information systems development and implementation: enterprise and systems architecture for health, and the analysis, design and development of software for health systems. Jembi employs these expertise in our work on our programmes and projects as well as in the technologies that our work adds to and leverages off of.
We provide the technical skills, tools and implementation expertise needed to develop and enhance eHealth and health information systems in low resource settings. We act as ethical mediators, develop software, analyse and re-engineer health systems and undertake research on the application of health information systems in developing countries. We promote the use of open architectures and standards in information systems, and partner with governments, local and international organisations and consortia to facilitate knowledge sharing, project work and coordination.
Jembi receives funding from the international donor community and is currently supported by grants and contracts from the International Development Research Center (IDRC), the Rockefeller Foundation, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS relief (PEPFAR), to name a few (for a more comprehensive listing of our funders please see our funders page). Jembi also works in partnership with other organisations, African and International, as well as directly under contract.
Jembi currently undertakes a range of programmes in the countries we operate in. We also participate in programmes headed up by our partners and collaborators. Our programmes often contain elements of implementation science research as well as innovation in technical design and implementation. Our programme countries include Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Under each of our programmes, Jembi undertakes, leads and collaborates on various projects. Projects relate to research, programme objectives, contractual obligations and innovative ideas. Our projects include software development, systems strengthening and expert consultancies to Ministries and other groups.
