On 10 April 2025, Jembi Mozambique joined leaders from across the country’s tech and business ecosystem at the Smart Business Innovation 2025 event, held at the Mozambique-China Cultural Centre in Maputo.
The event brought together CEOs, startup founders, investors, students and public and private sector leaders to explore how technology and innovation can drive inclusive growth.

Jembi’s Project Manager, António Macheve, joined a panel discussion on digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), where he shared Jembi’s experience supporting digitalisation in the public sector.
He highlighted Jembi’s work with the Ministry of Health and the former Ministry of Gender and Social Affairs to enable real-time data for improved decision-making, and shared the organisation’s strategic role in the development of the Zambezi Tech Hub in Quelimane. Part of the EU-funded VaMoz Digital Project, the hub is led by NGO COSV and supports young entrepreneurs and SMEs through access to digital infrastructure and skills development. Jembi is responsible for the hub’s core technical infrastructure, including electricity, ICT and training systems.
In his closing remarks, António called for greater investment in Mozambique’s digital ecosystem and reaffirmed Jembi’s commitment to youth capacity building. He highlighted Jembi’s national internship programme in software development as a practical example of inclusive digital development that supports a more sustainable future.
